Evening of Bluegrass at Hayden Lake Friends Church

Nor th Idaho Hat Band - Although friends for nine years, music has just recently taken center stage for the members of the North Idaho Hat Band. This high-energy, two-family band has delighted audiences with their lively Bluegrass and Gospel music along with some swing, and Irish fiddle tunes. Christopher, 16, plays the banjo and guitar, while his brother Matthew, 12, shows his talent on the fiddle along with a few surprising instruments. Alex, 17, simultaneously plays the guitar and hands-free harmonica. When not performing or practicing, these Christian home- schooled boys pursue their other hobbies while helping around their family farms located in the Rathdrum—Athol area.

Panhandle Polecats - The Panhandle Polecats have gone from being "just another cute family band to being the Top Dogs (er, 'Cats) in the thriving Inland Northwest Bluegrass scene” and have toured throughout the region performing everywhere from cow pastures and barns to bluegrass festivals, colleges, television studios, and county fairs.  This quintet is made up of 5 siblings who have established a reputation for a high energy, entertaining show.  They are not a tribute or cover band, although their sound is deeply rooted in the classic bluegrass sounds of Flatt & Scruggs, Bill Monroe, and the Dillards, but they play their music with the same kind of energy and enthusiasm as those legendary artists did back when bluegrass was a new musical form.  They are, Jenny Little on Bass, Hank Little on Dobro and harmonica, Molly (Little) Wilbur on mandolin, Austin Little on banjo, and Bonnie (Little) Campbell on guitar.

New Vintage

Zane Meeks, 11, guitar
Drew Miller, 11, fiddle, mandolin, guitar
Justin Sherfey, 11, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, vocals
Zachary Wilson, 9 , fiddle, bass

The kids of New Vintage have been playing a total of 15 years combined. They started simply by jamming together at contests and decided they'd like to form a band. Typically playing old time fiddle tunes, which through their young eyes are vintage songs, they put a fresh new twist on old time classics.  Although the core of the group is the four boys, when traveling from state to state, they frequently invite other kid musicians their age to join them on stage, because in their hearts they are all new vintage.
